Do not seek results in the short term
One of the things I've been struggling with for years is learning English.
Anyway, it's hard to study.
But it is necessary.
The information I need is only available in English.
And I decided to do it, TOEIC.
For the time being, I set the goal of 700 points.
It was over five years ago.
I bought a book about TOEIC measures and started studying, but it didn't last long.
Since I can't continue to study using books, I started to focus on listening.
This method continued more than I expected.
For a while, I loved listening but hated reading for a long time.
Looking at the TOEIC scores, the listening scores were good, but reading continued to be slow.
About two years ago, I finally became disgusted and stopped taking TOEIC exams regularly.
I also stopped studying TOEIC.
I continued some of NHK language programs but stopped studying.
And I did what I wanted to do.
What I am doing now
- I read my favorite computer-related technical books in English.
- I tried to write an English blog. (This blog.)
- I started reading the blog aloud.
- I started dictation of TED.
I tried to do this every day.
I tried to get the results after five years.
For the time being, I'm just thinking about keeping it fun.
Every day is fun now.
I've been suffering for over five years, but finally, I can see the answer.
Do not seek results in the short term.
Don't try hard, and do things every day so that you don't have to worry.
